Inhaltsangabe

Edith was born at a time of magic and fairies. As a newborn she received two gifts: the ability to bring any object to life and eternal childhood. That’s why today, 100 years later, Edith is celebrating her centenary as a ten-year-old. What will she wish for this time? Perhaps a new friend. Certainly a new life—being ten forever has its downside.

On her birthday, Edith sets off to find the fairy who bewitched her and reverse the spell. She takes her only friends, a wise dog and a talking lemon, to find herself a future she can live with.

Fully illustrated in color, this one-of-a-kind chapter book bursts with good things: the dry wit of a faithful dog, a fairytale adventure, camping, boating, friendship and danger, and a question that matters.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Catharina Valckx was born in 1957 in De Bilt, Netherlands. She grew up in France with four sisters. She traveled back and forth between the two countries before settling down in Amsterdam. She started writing for children books after the birth of her son. Her books are like guides for a happy life. She believes (and has observed) that children are already sensitive to an absurd kind of humor at a very young age, the kind of humor that makes you smile not laugh, a comforting kind of humor. Catharina has been nominated five times for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award--most recently in 2025. Her books are published in eleven languages and have won numerous awards.
