Inhaltsangabe

Once I Was a Brussels Sprout is a beautifully illustrated, read aloud book which tells the tale of a baby's journey from conception through birth, narrated by the ever-growing baby itself. It is the perfect book for a young child who is awaiting the arrival of a new baby, as well as any mother to be. Each week outlines how big the fetus is, comparing its size to various brightly colored fruits and vegetables as it gets bigger, develops parts of the body, and acquires an increasing number of skills. Each month also shares an illustration of the mom and the nongraphic peek inside the woman's belly. Throughout, the baby proudly tells readers of the new things it is able to do in rhyme, and with one predictable sentence on each page. Brussels Sprout encourages conversations through vocabulary, and delightful illustrations. A birth certificate allows the new mommy to record the child's name, birthday, and other important facts about the baby when the big day arrives.
