An efficient way to transfer the drawing is the carbon or carbon paper (tracing paper) so you get detailed and fine lines.
The application is very simple: Put a sheet of tracing paper between your motif and wooden plate. Fix the whole thing against slipping with tape.
Then draw all the lines and shading, so you transfer the motif on the painting surface. A tip for this use a colored pen, so you do not have to remember which lines you have already traced.
