Inhaltsangabe

In From Peter to the Papacy, you will fi nd a careful discussion of the papacy question in the Roman Catholic Church. The question is, did Christ designate Peter as his vicar, giving him a primacy of jurisdiction over the Church, and did the offi ce pass on to the subsequent bishops of Rome? You will engage exegetical considerations of the pertinent biblical passages related to Peter and Christ. You will travel a historical path from the fi rst century leading to the full development of the papacy into modern times. In that journey, you will note the growing tension between the bishops, as overseers of the churches, and the pope's authority which must be asserted continually. You will fi nally note the current state of papal aff airs in its organization and scope. In our ecumenical age, it makes sense to seek out the core truth, to peel back layers of tradition and set aside prejudicial preconceptions. The light of the word of God must always guide our steps as we examine assumed doctrines for the truth. God is truth! He can only be served in truth. Author Fausto Salvoni hopes this book will help you discover the truth and to follow it assiduously. This truth is not in any man or pope but is in Jesus Christ alone.
