Jesus asked the disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" His followers have been pondering his identity ever since. One answer came in the form of the Nicene Creed. The "Great O Antiphons" provide another. These liturgical texts, dating from the same era as the creeds, apply a variety of images from Jewish tradition to the Christ. Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
R. David Cox is an Episcopal priest who has served congregations in Connecticut and Virginia. He is now Professor of History at Southern Virginia University teaching religious and American history. Michael P. McLaughlin is Director of Music at St. Brigid's Catholic Church, Amherst, Massachusetts, and the Newman Catholic Center at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he is a graduate student of choral conducting.
