Inhaltsangabe

The book chronicles the events that rocked the Western Region of Nigeria in the early 1960s. While the Action Group Party’s crisis broke open, not many within and outside the party gave Chief Akintola, who was then the Premier of the Western Region and the deputy leader of the party, a fighting chance. He survived that round. In the same vein, many also thought the end had come for Chief Obafemi Awolowo and the Action Group Party. The aftermath of the state of emergency declared by the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa led government eventually led to the overthrow of the Federal Government in a bloody coup, and many of the principal players lost their lives.

This book is an inside scoop from a legal, political and strategic thinker who posits that political power is like a greasy pole, which calls for circumspection, self-restraint and utmost caution. Many ignore this and walk blindfolded into the politics of the precipice and the jugular. Lessons must be learned if history is behind us and not to be resurrected in our future.
