I was born in August, in the very heart of Salento (Puglia/Italy). At fifteen I had something to say, so I wrote a short novel. Then I had nothing more to say for thirty years. At forty-five I discovered happiness: I became a father. My soul spread its wings: I had something to say again.

The protagonist leads us by the hand inside his childhood, at a time when his everyday life is disrupted by the outbreak of World War I, and the subsequent call of his beloved dad to the front lines.
