Inhaltsangabe

Amanda Robertson, a young girl, fresh out of Veterinary College, finds getting a position in 1940's England almost impossible due to the prejudice about women doing what are perceived to be men's jobs. Luck goes her way when she finds employment with Jeremiah Longthorne, a Lancashire vet whose nephew and assistant, Ray, has just joined the Royal Army Veterinary Corps. Fighting distrust amongst the residents of Faringdale and the surrounding farms as well as finding romance in the Lancashire hills, she tries to get them to accept that a woman can do anything a man can.
