The presidency of St. Albanos Unitarian College for women in Colchester, Vermont is vacant because Dr. Buns has fled it to chair the school’s board. Dean Lytton invites Raymond “Brick” Gantry, former President of the United States, to apply. Like the out-going U.S. President, Gantry is an ignoramus, but he has a heart and the remnants of a conscience. Gantry would think that stealing an election is wrong and would not attempt it. Professor Rutherford “Shrimp Boy" Stimple and his masochistic accomplice, Wanda Herbel, on the other hand, are not constrained by such scruples. Student leader Beverly “Spikey” Fronde watches the machinations of her faculty with wary disgust and organizes the girls to hurl tomatoes at Gantry, while Stimple and Wanda prepare other delights for the visitor. Meanwhile, Counseling Center Director Itzak Bologna urges everyone to be happy and lusts after the beautiful Christine.
