Inhaltsangabe

'Show Me A Sign' is a tale for our times. A bitter-sweet story with dark and light, laughter and tears. But most of all a story about the transformative power and joy of 'surrendering to the universe' and releasing the burden of our illusions of control. The story was conceived and written in 17 days in April 2018 by a first-time writer (who was just as surprised as you are at that turn of events). The author takes no responsibility for whether or not you think the book is any good. You see, it was written 'through her', not 'by her'. With no prior planning or preparation, whole chapters tumbled onto the keyboard overnight. It would no doubt benefit from editing and refining. But that's not the point of this book. Just as our lives could do with editing and refining; but that's not the point of life either, is it?The book has been described as 'life changing' by some who have read it. But then, isn't everything?I hope it will bring some comfort and uplift; even just a few hours of distraction.AV 'Dr Maria Carpenter is as literal and as literary a woman as you can imagine (if you can imagine; which Maria generally cannot). As Maria approaches her 40th birthday she sails into an existential crisis, precipitated and punctuated by a quick-fire series of life-altering events. Initially she tries, then increasingly she fails, to cope with each consecutive calamity using her well-practiced left-brained logic and control. Battling to keep a brave face, everyday events escalate until a final flood breaches Maria’s defences. In desperation she screams to the heavens ‘I can’t do this anymore. I don’t know what to do! PLEASE! SHOW ME A SIGN.’From this place of complete surrender (for the first time in her life) signs and supports begin to show up for Maria, marking out her path like mystical morsels and answering her questions like ancient oracles. As Maria struggles to believe in the divine signs and magical moments unfolding all around her, she comically confronts the old beliefs she once held sacred and the habits she followed religiously.Life will never be the same again for Maria. (Thank God).
