Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory multifactorial disease of tooth supporting tissues, modulated by various systemic risk factors such as diabetes mellitus. Diabetes mellitus has been suggested as a risk factor for periodontal disease & the periodontal infection is supposed to increase its severity and complicate metabolic control. The effect of local drug delivery as an adjunct to mechanical periodontal therapy has been reported to improve the metabolic variables in diabetes mellitus. Thus, in present research study, one of the newest drugs statins [Rosuvastatin and Simvastatin] which are the cholesterol lowering drugs [hypolipidemic drugs] have been considered with the potential of periodontal regeneration. The aim to conduct this clinico-biochemical research study was to assess the clinical & metabolic control in patients of type 2 diabetes mellitus with chronic periodontitis by evaluating the effect of locally delivered statins as an adjunct to periodontal therapy. This book covers the entire conduct of the research with the conceptual basis of theoretical and practical preparations in a well presented dissertation form, making this book to target all the readers associated with research field including the medical, dental students [UGs, PGs] and Phd, Thesis holders, Researchers, Scientists, Medicine and drugs research studies and fields, Periodontists along with Academicians, practicing Clinicians and Physicians, Cardiologists, Health professionals, Pharmaceutical researchers etc.FOR FEEDBACK: drmanpreetdass@gmail.com
