At fourteen she married Louis IV, the Landgrave of Thuringia. Elizabeth's story shows how a young girl dealt with foreign rulers and the constant ugliness of her guardian. But Elizabeth was always gentle and kind, and her greatest joy in life was to serve those in need. She went on to have four children and she built two hospitals and an orphanage to serve the people under her care. The story is deeply moving and shows how a gentle young girl rose above the difficulties of childhood and became a Queen loved by all.
