Inhaltsangabe

An Anthology of Sound Chips - an indispensable reference work invaluable to anyone interested in gaming hardware!

This unique reference book is the first half of a two-volume set that covers sound chips used in gaming and the systems that contained them: from technical information to entertaining anecdotes, to insights from industry experts about hardware, composition, production and more.

Written in an accessible and friendly way, it nevertheless delivers fresh information on every page, with educational deep-dives into the technology and techniques. Systems covered by the chips in this book include arcade hardware by Atari, Taito, Namco, Capcom and loads more, Apple II Expansions, Atari VCS/HCS, Odyssey2, Astrocade, BBC Micro, Spectrum beeper/128, Amstrad CPC, MSX, VIC-20, C64, NES and expansions, Amiga, ST, C16, Enterprise 64/128 and more.

Volume 2 of this series covers 1987-2004, which is the golden age of the arcades and, some would argue, the golden age of games consoles.

Also available: “The Little Book of Sound Chips” - four volumes combining the reference material from “An Anthology of Sound Chips” with beautiful game screenshot/review galleries and hyperlinks, in a 15 x 15cm (6” x 6”) hardback book (also in PDF). Find out more at C64Audio.com/lbsc.
