His background includes work as a defense contract worker, a history teacher, and a logistics manager, giving him a unique perspective on the unfolding story of his nation. A born-and-raised Texan, Porter currently lives on a modest ranch where he raises livestock. He holds a B.M.E. and a B.A. from West Texas A&M University.
