The sudden loss of institutions like the priesthood, with its specialized knowledge, resulted in a catastrophic loss, the loss of the knowledge of myth and symbol. The result was a distortion of religious culture and of civilization as whole. The author argues for renewal, and a new theology, Reflexive Theology, which recovers the archaic knowledge.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Henry Straw is a Jungian analyst in private practice, with a diploma from the C.G. Jung Institute of Zurich. He is a retired United Methodist minister, with a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies: Psychology and Religion, having taught at Regis College in Denver and the C.G. Jung Center of Houston.
