Inhaltsangabe

Strength and Conditioning: A Biomechanical Approach examines the mechanical principles underlying human movement, with a focus on their relevance to strength and conditioning. The book explores how physics, engineering, anatomy, and physiology intersect and inform the development, assessment, and refinement of training programs for athletic performance and injury prevention. Through the analysis of real-world scenarios, it presents the role of biomechanics in both theoretical foundations and applied practice within the strength and conditioning profession. The book discusses key biomechanical concepts such as kinematics, dynamics, and the relationships between force, momentum, and energy. It explores the neuromuscular system-including muscle structure, neuromuscular activation, and muscle-tendon function-and applies these principles to resistance and plyometric training as well as the biomechanical analysis of exercises like jumping and sprinting. Supplementary materials include appendices, a glossary, and access to online interactive laboratories. Strength and Conditioning is intended for upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses in biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise science, and applied strength and conditioning. It's also an excellent resource for practitioners seeking to deepen their understanding of biomechanical principles in professional settings.
