Sarah Boone was arrested on charges of second degree murder for the death of her boyfriend George Torres on February 25, 2020. The arrest came after Boone called 911 to report finding Torres dead inside a suitcase in her apartment. During questioning, Boone claimed that Torres voluntarily climbed into the suitcase during a game of hide and seek. She said she then went upstairs and fell asleep, waking hours later to find him unresponsive. However, investigators found evidence contradicting her story, including videos on her phone showing Torres begging to be let out of the suitcase while Boone taunted him. Boone was denied bail and has gone through multiple defense attorneys in the nearly two years since her arrest. Her case has faced many delays but is currently scheduled to go to trial starting January 30, 2024
