Artist Statement:
ABSOLUTEWRITING
I have focused on my writing work for over twenty years. I understand writing by hand as a powerful form of expression that gives our existence a deep meaning. Not just in connection with the verbal message she conveys. Increasingly, I realized the value of asemic writing as a complete experience, independent of the rules of legibility. Because more and more I leave the limits oflegibility and enter areas in which the rules of the body and the earth apply. I let my body and intuition guide me. This requires a carefully balanced discord between presence, awareness, and non-thinking. My first step in this process is meditation. My body then moves- controlled by my subconscious- deep inside ITknows how to write. That's why I call it ABSOLUTE WRITING.
My works are mainly created on high-quality paper that provides me its sensuality. Paper submits to my ideas and is omnipresent at the same time. Due to increasing reduction in my works, the respective paper surface is an aesthetic visual player in my works.
Leaving the limitations of paper dimensions, Iexpand myradius of action with performances. This creates moments of ABSOLUTE WRITING that emphasize the physicality of the written act. Aperformance then not only leavestraces on paper, but also writes itself deeply into us.
ABSOLUTE WRITING: a mysterious act that largely eludes our understanding. This mystery cannot be fully unraveled and that is what gives it its special value. Let us get involved in the deep mysteries of our existence.
Bio:
Sigrid Artmann si na artist, calligrapher, performer, and author. She was born ni 196 ni Mühldorf am Inn I Bavaria southern Germany. She lives and works in Ludwigsburg Germany and on the road.
Sigrid studied Art and Calligraphy since 1998 with Prof. Gottfried Pott, Germany. And studied further with international artists e.g. Brody Neuenschwander and Yves Leterme (Belgium), Thomas Ingmire +Carl Rohrs (USA), Denis Brown (IRL), Monica Dengo (IT), Patrick
Leung (HK), Torsten Kole (D) and many more. She has been a freelance artist since 2012.
She has a long history of showing work worldwide. Her most recent group shows: 2022 Dante, Tana Art Space during Biennale Venice (IT)
