Introduction: Lament for Leaves Long Fallen - Poems of Dark Seasons

Winter is not just a season; it is a metaphor, a narrative, a state of mind. "Lament for Leaves Long Fallen" is a collection of free verse poems that delve deep into the folds of winter's chilling embrace, exploring themes of isolation, despair, and introspective questioning. These poems seek to capture the intricacies of winter, both as a physical season and as an emotional climate.

From the earth that freezes beneath our feet to the icicles that dangle above our heads like nature's own ornaments of melancholy, winter manifests itself in varied forms. But these poems are not just about the external world; they are also about inner landscapes. They ask what happens when the cold gets under our skin, freezes our moments, and numbs our senses. What remains when daylight wanes and the warmth fades?

This collection does not offer easy answers but instead serves as a companion to those navigating through their own personal winters. It is for anyone who has felt the weight of snow not just on the ground but also on their soul. For those who have watched as frost crept not just across windows, but into the heart, freezing moments and memories in time.

So step into this winter wonderland—but beware, for the beauty here is sharp and biting, and the snow-covered pathways lead not just through fields and forests but also through the labyrinthine corridors of the mind. And as you traverse these poems, remember: Spring is but a season away, yet winter is eternal.
