We are pleased to share our thoughts regarding the monument that our people wish to erect in our honor. We are deeply grateful for their desire to recognize our services to our country in this manner. While some believe that physical structures are the best way to show gratitude, we believe that lasting legacies are created through one's contributions to society. We consider the contributions that live on and influence posterity to be the most permanent monuments.

During our 32-year reign, we have faced numerous challenges while guiding our people. We believe that any monument to be left for our people must be erected on spiritual foundations. As such, we suggest that higher education be used as a symbol of mutual gratitude. Higher education has the power to transform lives and communities, and it is through education that our people will be able to advance and thrive.

We are deeply moved by our people's desire to erect a statue in our image. It is a testament to their recognition of our devotion to our country and our people's welfare. We feel that it is our duty to consider what would be the most appropriate means of incorporating in a concrete and lasting manner the sentiments of our people.

We have faith that the Almighty will continue to guide Ethiopia toward a bright future and an enduring destiny. Our people's desire to erect a statue in our honor is a reflection of their gratitude for our leadership and our work towards a better future for all Ethiopians. We are humbled and grateful for this recognition, and we will continue to work tirelessly for the betterment of our country and our people.
