Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
David Goodis was an American crime novelist and short-story writer whose work became central to the tradition of noir fiction. Born in Philadelphia in 1917, Goodis wrote for pulp magazines, paperback publishers, and Hollywood, developing a bleak, recognisable style built around defeated men, dangerous longing, urban decay, and the grim machinery of fate. His fiction helped define the emotional terrain of mid-century American noir: not merely crime as plot, but crime as pressure, collapse, obsession, and doomed desire.
