Inhaltsangabe

Thirty years after Staff Sergeant Caleb Mercer hangs up his uniform, an impossible military order arrives at his home.

The letter bears no postage, no return address, and no explanation. It commands Caleb to report to Fort Mercy-an abandoned Army post erased from official maps-before midnight. He must enter through the East Gate, come alone, and prevent a mysterious bugler from completing the final call.

The order is signed by Private Amos Bell, a Buffalo Soldier who died more than a century ago.

Unable to ignore the command, Caleb travels to Fort Mercy and discovers a place where military history, supernatural forces, and buried secrets have converged. Behind the locked gates are forgotten records, sealed rooms, erased names, and soldiers whose service was deliberately removed from history. The men of the Ninth Lantern Detachment have waited generations for someone to uncover the truth and restore the honor stolen from them.

As the midnight bugle sounds, the past begins to awaken.

Caleb encounters spectral soldiers, hidden military files, coded orders, secret chambers, and powerful figures determined to keep Fort Mercy's history buried. Every clue draws him deeper into a mystery involving loyalty, sacrifice, corruption, and a mission that was never officially recorded. To free the dead and protect the living, Caleb must confront the burden of his own military past and decide whether he is willing to answer one final call.
