Now Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. They came to him with one accord, and having won over Blastus, the king's chamberlain, they asked for peace, because their country was supplied with food from the king's country. On an appointed day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne and addressed them publicly. The people shouted, "The voice of a god, and not of a man!" Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he died, eaten by worms.
