Have you ever wondered why you keep reaching for the screen even when you promised yourself you wouldn't?

Somehow minutes became hours after you told yourself:

  • Just five more minutes
  • Just one more video
  • Just one more game
  • I'll stop after this purchase

Before you knew what happened, hours passed and the same cycles begin again. The problem was never the technology itself. Phones, apps, games, shopping sites, streaming platforms, and online communities are part of modern life. The problem begins when technology stops being something you use and becomes something you turn to for escape.

Unplugged: Using the Twelve Steps for Cyber Addiction is a practical recovery workbook for anyone struggling with internet addiction, social media addiction, gaming addiction, smartphone addiction, excessive screen time, online shopping addiction, or other compulsive digital behaviors. This book does not ask you to throw away your phone. Instead, it helps you understand what you may actually be reaching for beneath the screen: relief from stress, anxiety, boredom, loneliness, fear, shame, comparison, or emotional discomfort.

This recovery workbook includes:

  • A cyber addiction self-assessment
  • Reflection questions and writing prompts
  • Screen time management strategies
  • A 30-Day Digital Reset plan
  • Resources for continued recovery and support

Recovery is not about rejecting the modern world. It is about finding freedom within it.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Josh Grant is the author of multiple books on recovery from alcoholism, addiction, and other self-destructive compulsive behaviors. He is a veteran of the United States military and recovering alcoholic who knows a thing or two about getting knocked down by life's challenges-and climbing back up again with humor and determination. When he is not writing or supporting others in their recovery, you can find Josh exploring the great outdoors near his home in the Williamsburg, Virginia area. He is an avid fan of hiking the Appalachian Trail, paddleboarding, yoga, and occasionally tripping over his own two feet while trying to keep up with life.Josh's philosophy is simple: recovery is about progress, not perfection and does not need to be all doom and gloom. There's room for happiness, growth, and maybe even an adventure or two along the way. If by sharing his experience he can help someone else find hope for recovery (and a good sense of humor) in the process, he considers that a win.
