Inhaltsangabe

This cozy mystery series is anything but ordinary! 1977 is the year 21-year-old amateur sleuth, Jane Newell, plans to make her mark on the world—as soon as she can get her VW Beetle out of the ditch. Fresh out of college, she has accepted a teaching position in the small rustic town of Little Missouri, South Dakota. Amidst the beauty and charm of this small western town, Jane finds herself in the middle of a mysterious hit-and-run murder that has turned the town upside down. With her nose for misadventure, Jane is determined to uncover the truth and find out who the killer is. Along the way, she meets a cast of zany characters, from Merle Laird and his prized cow Snippy to the glitter-hating school janitor, Velma. If you enjoyed the quirky, humorous mystery of Donna Andrews’ Murder with Peacocks, then you'll love the West River Mysteries.

Praise for See Jane Run!

From the crow of the next-door rooster in the (way too) early morning to the mystery surrounding one of Jane’s young students, you’ll find yourself rooting for this heroine, page after page.

Jolene Stratton Philo’s See Jane Run is a delightful romp, a homespun tale, that will keep readers guessing “whodunit” without haunting them at night. . . . Philo’s quirky cast of characters, small-town intrigue, and celebration of community, faith, and family make this a recipe as wholesome and satisfying as Merle’s non-skid pancakes.

~ Rebecca Janni, author of the Every Cowgirl series

A plucky young teacher, away from home for the first time, helps solve a who-done-it in a small South Dakota town . . . With grit, spirit, a great sense of humor, and adventure, she also learns to milk a cow and handle a grumpy cleaning lady, all the while pondering clues . . . I’m looking forward to more West River Mysteries from Jolene Philo.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Before I became an author, I taught elementary school for 25 years. 7 of those years were spent in northwestern South Dakota. Our first child was born while we lived there, and our experiences with him resulted in 6 books for the special needs community. My fiction series, West River Mysteries, draws heavily on my years as an Iowan who landed in cowboy country, who taught country school, and who was adopted and cared for by the locals in the tiny town where we lived.
