Inhaltsangabe

"I often found myself laughing out loud, although some of the humor was so shocking, I was almost glad that there was nobody else around to ask what I was laughing about."
- Reedsy Reviews

At eighteen, Paul Mountain pissed away an academic scholarship to the University of Minnesota and fled to Boulder, Colorado - broke, reckless, and dangerously free of oversight. In a cramped one-bedroom apartment shared with two other derelicts, his life became unbridled and chaotic, lived without a shred of remorse.

Within a year, Paul and his new girlfriend are holed up in a tiny cabin in a Rocky Mountain ghost town, convinced he can write his way out of poverty before buying his first legal drink. He was wrong ... about that, and about a great many things.

In his whirlwind comic memoir, Mountain drags the reader through his rabid quest to outrun adulthood. Pepperoni, Jalapenos & LSD is a fast, filthy joyride through the 1990s, the final decade before the tech revolution. Filled with women, drugs, motorcycles, speed junkies, laughter, crime, sex, and long blasts down empty ski slopes, Paul's story revels in youthful madness, celebrates recklessness, and champions mania.

"The day will soon come when the cigarettes finally take hold, the doctor shouts, 'Cancer!', and God's gavel falls, sentencing me to death and who the fuck knows what else. Probably hell, but I'm hoping for a clerical error, the great celestial typo."

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

P.H. Mountain was partially educated at the University of Minnesota before earning his undergraduate degree from the Boulder Public Library and his masters from The Sundown Saloon. At twenty-nine, he started a legal transcript editing company that morphed into a software company that continues to thrive. He has lived in three different vehicles, fifteen different states, and five different countries, but he generally considers Colorado home. In a moment of clarity, Paul married his wife Stella in 2001. To this day, he still considers her the luckiest woman alive.
