HIDDEN PAGE
It is interesting to note that the Goddess today is respected as ever, and this book provides an absorbing and readable introduction to the Goddess history. In nine (9) chapters the author tells the names of the many Goddesses in Egypt (3000-2150 B.C.) to the European world of other known Goddesses. Against the historical background they portray aspects of the matriarchal, social, domestic, religious, political, artistic and intellectual life.
At the heart of this book is the author’s belief that the religious and historical task of finding “The Hidden Goddesses” is essentially a fundamental one. There are a number of places where the Goddesses are hidden, and also when they are found, it will raise important questions.
The author draws upon the long religious belief that has its dogma in the holy books of the Torah, Bible, and Koran and contains the representation of the Goddesses. The author makes plain the symbolism of scriptural passages using such major thinkers-- E.V. Straiton, Merlin Stone, Manly P. Hall, John G. Jackson, Joseph Campbell --and others whose authority is unquestionable. The author uses them to explore the myths and symbolism that was employed to achieve what he calls religion “Encoded in Goddess Symbolism.” Further, the author recognizes that there are specific motives for the removal of the matriarchal system in favor of the patriarchal system in history and, in the third chapter of the book he devoted principally to the subject.
Well-chosen quotations from historical texts gave a vivid impression of the lifestyle and quality of life in the matriarchal society which is complemented by numerous authors versed in religion and history and other ancient sources.
This book highlights the Goddess Isis, although there are a number of references to the Goddesses from Europe, India, and China. And in the last part of the book, the author explains the meaning and application of the Matrix. However, I wish he would have touched on the exchange from The Matrix Revolution. When Neo is trapped in Mobil Ave, and the Trainman tells him: “Down here, I’m God.” Powerful! This book was an informative read.
