Dr. Newkam primarily conducts individual therapy with youngchildren coping with internalizing and externalizing disorders, and trauma histories. Dr.Newkam also loves children's books and has combined her passion for bibliotherapy and playtherapy into her therapeutic work with children.Remington, otherwise known as Remi, is the star character in the story and in Dr. Newkam's life.Remi is the Newkam family Labradoodle, and he accompanies Dr. Newkam to work severaldays a week. According to a staff member, "Remi has brought joy to our students and staff! Hecomforts students who are feeling sad or upset. He teaches students to be gentle, kind, andcompassionate to others."
