Mira Kapadia has never known a life without her family's support but when they refuse to stand behind her unrealistic dreams, she decides that she'll do it anyway, even if she had to do it alone. That's how she ended up here, in New York City, three and a half years into the nation's best theatre program, labeled as one of the finest actors within it. Everything was good until the senior year production was announced and, along with it, the cast list: she was to play Elizabeth Bennet and her biggest rival was to play Mr. Darcy.
On paper, Neil Kapoor was perfect for the role. He was rich, spoiled, prideful, and extremely full of himself. But what he had could never make up for what he lacked: the ability to be lovable. Mira and Neil had never seen eye to eye, let alone even think about playing romantic leads with one another, especially not when agents would be present on opening night.
So when their professor tells them that their romantic chemistry is severely lacking, she proposes an idea-they were to go on dates outside of class and learn to like one another or risk losing the most important role of their college career.
Desperate to achieve their dreams, they agree, attempting to feign the emotions Darcy and Elizabeth invoked. But when Mira realizes that the lines between fiction and reality had started blurring in her mind, will she be able to put her heart aside? Or will everything end in ruin, including the dreams she left everything behind for?
After all, they were just pretending...
