Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Mr. Ray Brown has spent a lifetime studying American history and a 36-year career in the public schools sharing his love for the subject with students. In 2004, Mr. Brown, in an act of faith, made a decision that would change his life. Perceiving a steady erosion of our nation's civil liberties, Brown-a firm believer in the Constitution-decided to leap the classroom walls and "take it to the streets" dressed in a newly made historical outfit. Calling himself A Son of Liberty and armed with copies of the Bill of Rights, Brown began a civic journey that to his surprise would be supported by nearly everyone-no matter one's political persuasion. That was now nearly 10,000 copies ago.Retiring from teaching in 2010, Mr. Brown made another monumental decision. In order to further promote the study of American history, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, Brown walked across the United States from Florence, Oregon, to Philadelphia's Independence Hall, and on to the Atlantic Ocean while talking to fellow Americans he met along his journey. That was 3,200 miles ago.Always a student of American history, before retirement Mr. Brown began composing a detailed timeline of the many events leading to the original founding of the United States. This project would become another arduous journey-much longer than his Walk Across America. Simply beginning his work by plugging historical events into chronological order, like a jigsaw puzzle, a larger story began to emerge nearly always leading back to England. Now, fifteen years later, From the Parent Stem: England and the Making of America is born. It is Mr. Brown's opinion that such a work has never before been written and represents a fresh perspective on an old subject.Truly an epic work. With degrees from Ohio State and the University of Oregon, Brown lives with his wife Cynthia in Eugene, Oregon.
