Glenn Alan is an award-winning author, playwright, poet, youth advocate, and arts educator whose work centers the voices, experiences, and imagination of Black communities and young people. With more than three decades of experience in education, juvenile justice reform, youth development, and community leadership, he has dedicated his life to empowering young people through storytelling, creativity, and mentorship.As the Executive Director of the DC Bike Academy, Glenn has helped create innovative youth-centered programs that combine cycling, leadership development, STEAM education, and community engagement to inspire the next generation. His work has earned recognition for using bicycles, storytelling, and the arts as tools for healing, empowerment, and social change.Glenn is also the founder of the DC Black Theatre & Arts Festival, where he has championed Black theatre artists and helped bring hundreds of original works to the stage. As a playwright, his works explore family, legacy, resilience, love, and the complexity of African American life. His acclaimed stage productions include Don't Sing No Blues For Me and other works that blend humor, heartache, music, and cultural memory.As a children's author, Glenn is the creator of beloved stories including The Adventures of Gabe the Mighty and Agent Knowles: Kid Detective, uplifting series designed to help boys of color see themselves reflected as imaginative, brave, curious, and emotionally powerful heroes.
