Johnny Marathon awakens in New York City with no memory, only a soul-deep desire to track down a lover he cannot remember. Cryptic clues, strange dreams and an annoying homeless man reveal to Johnny he is a fictitious hero in a novel being written by Judd Myrvin, a fledgling writer whose undisciplined writing skills have trapped Johnny and a cast of supporting characters in literary purgatory. Johnny's only hope to regain his memory and his love is to find their creator before it's too late. But Johnny is not alone in his quest. The story's supporting characters include two rival mob bosses, a voluptuous hit-woman and corrupt NYC police, each determined to extract Judd's name and address from Johnny for their own selfish means. To escape eternal purgatory and find his love, Johnny must get to their creator first. Through one misadventure after another, Johnny finds Judd, only to be cornered in the writer's apartment by an epic shootout between the mobsters and the NYPD. The shootout ends with the meanest cop in control. He orders the writer to make him the story's hero but Judd refuses to listen to the cop, to Johnny or any of his characters, leaving them betwixt and between, or are they?

Steven A. Twitty is an American writer who spent his formative years in South Miami, Florida and since then has worked as a cowhand on his parents' Tennessee farm, built a log cabin from scratch and graduated with a BA in biology from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. He later joined an international snack company with two year assignments in Singapore, Venezuela, Australia, Ecuador and China. For the past thirty-five years he has lived in Thailand with his Thai wife. He has one daughter and two grandchildren. Steve has no formal education in fiction writing which, he admits, has at times been like walking a crooked mile with blinders. He spends his time writing novels, traveling and sailing. He is published in multiple genre; Sci-Fi, Literary Fiction, Women's Fiction and Cozy Mystery. His philosophy in life is best described through a quote from the journalist and writer, Hunter S. Thompson: "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW! what a ride!".
