Light green paper wrappers stapled at the top as issued, with text and decoration printed in black to front wrapper, with partial splitting to the front spine fold, minor creasing and darkening, and other signs of gentle handling for what is a nice copy of this abstract of title; Harris County Abstract Co. blue ink rubber stamp to top of front wrapper. 50 pp. including [2] folding cadastral maps showing numbered lots. This abstract of title shows the history of two Houston neighborhoods from 1849 to 1911. Acquired in 1871 by F. A. Rice, the brother of William Marsh Rice, the founder of Houston's Rice University. F. A. Rice's children owned the land in 1910 when it was subdivided into 25 foot wide residential lots in a neighborhood known as "Jo. S. Rice Military Addition." The original Rice Military houses consisted of small bungalows and shotgun houses. Beginning around the year 2000, these original structures have all, for the most part, been replaced by larger houses and townhouses. There are occasional ink corrections within the abstract, indicating that it is possibly a draft or proof copy, otherwise internally in near fine condition. The condition of the abstract is VERY GOOD. RARE; an interesting look at the history of one of Houston's historically important neighborhoods. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 001113
