An original etching byGeorge Woolliscroft Rhead Junior(British 1855 - 1920) measuring approximately 7 3/4 x 6, 9 x 7, 14 1/4 x 10, for the etching, impression and the complete piece, respectively. The pictured 1st and 2nd pictures are most representative of its condition. I cannot find this impression and therefore consider it rare. Thanks for looking.George Woolliscroft Rhead Junior Born 1855 Died May 1920 Active: 1870 - 1920 Country of birth and death: England Painter, muralist, etcher, stained glass artist, educator Born in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. He came from a family of pottery workers and designers. Rhead Junior initially served an apprenticeship with Minton's and then studied at the National Art Training School, he also travelled in France and Italy. From pottery painting he moved into etching, illustration, designing for stained glass and mural painting. Over a forty year period Rhead Junior exhibited frequently at the Royal Academy. He was also an educator and became headmaster of the Schools of Art at Putney, Borough Polytechnic and Norwood. He wrote or illustrated at least twelve books including several titles on pottery, costume and design.
