On September the 11th 2001, Detective David Fitzpatrick was on his way to work when he heard the news of the attack on the World Trade Centre. He immediately got into a Police helicopter and went up into New York airspace as all other commercial air traffic was grounded. Because of his credentials as a police officer he also has unrivalled access to the site of Ground Zero. The latter part of the book contains intimate and heartrending scenes of the wreckage.
