This VG Scribner s book was published in 1899 and has 201 numbered pages; if it was issued with a jacket, there is no jacket now; there is a page listing the frontis + 7; all are on coated paper and all are present and firmly attached. The book has a slight lean butt no corner bumps or edge dings; and, remarkably, the spine ends are barely bumped! Both front and rear panels have soiling--the front, in particular, has rust colored dots, primarily around the margins of the panel (see photo); but they do not detract from the colorful illustration the front. Lettering and the illustration on the spine are intact though slightly soiled. Except for a beautiful inked signature and date ( Xmas 1899 ) on the FFEP, the book is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and paper damage of any sort. The paper is very lightly toned and is very flexible and not brittle; end pages have a slight amount of toning. The hinges are very strong and not damaged in any way.
