The autobiographical text of a convict who was deported to Australia. With an introduction by The Earl of Birkenhead. The first reprint of this edition, published the same year as the first edition. The text was originally written in 1844 and this edited edition was the first publication of it. Illustrated with a frontispiece of a facsimile of the original title page and additional facsimile plates of the original manuscript. James Rosenberg Tucker wrote under the name of Ralph Rashleigh and was exiled to Australia at the age of 18. He was put aboard the convict ship Midas which sailed for Sydney Cove. In marbled cloth binding with gilt stamping to spine. Externally, smart with bumping to extremities and small loss to head of spine. Prior owner's bookplate to front pastedown, W E P Burges with an armorial crest and the motto 'Levius fit Patientia'. Internally, firmly bound.
