A broken run of 18 issues spanning 8 years of this important, long-running Native American periodical and the official publication of the Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne. Issues included coverage of the American Indian Movement from a Native American perspective, which was often lacking from mainstream coverage, Mohawk Nation news and photographs of reservation life, as well as information on other Native American tribes, Native American history and culture, poetry, artwork, etc. The publication began in 1968 and was published fairly consistently until 1992, usually under the sponsorship of a university Indian Studies program. A new series ran from 1995-1997. Included in this short run are Vol. 5, Nos. 5-6; Vol. 6, Nos. 1-5; Vol. 7, Nos. 1, 3, 5; Vol. 8, Nos. 3-5; Vol. 9, Nos. 2-3; Vol. 10, No. 5; Vol. 11, Nos. 4-5. Tabloid format printed in black on newsprint; almost all issues run a substantial 48 pages, with photographs, artwork, and cartoons. Issues folded (some slightly mis-folded), light edge chipping in instances; mailing labels to the cover of most issues, a well-preserved run.
