Inhaltsangabe: Designed to educate and entertain, "The Alphabet uBook" is a customizable, interactive learning tool for children that comes with a 27-exposure camera for capturing unique alphabet images. The uBook opens to a mirrored cover reflecting its owner?s image, and displays the entire alphabet across page spreads with more than 100 vibrant photos and vocabulary words. The photos show animals, household items, kids doing various activities (from eating corn on the cob to gardening), and more. Children can customize each letter?s spread by inserting images they capture with the accompanying camera. In addition to photos, kids can customize the book with their own drawings or other images like baseball cards, or stickers. "The Alphabet uBook" is housed in an eight-by-eight-inch brightly colored, durable hardcover with spiral binding that makes viewing the book and customizing its contents easy. The end product's familiar images and text are attractive to young readers. And most importantly, each uBook is about "you," the reader! ?Customers tell us that personalizing "The Alphabet uBook" with pictures and words is fun and creative for both kids and adults,? says Bruce M. Campbell, founder and president of Moose Media. ?Not only are kids learning the alphabet in a fun, new way, but by putting in their own images, they?re actually creating a kind of ?reading scrapbook? that they and their families will treasure for a lifetime. Plus, each child has the satisfaction of owning a book that he or she has helped create.? The origins of "The Alphabet uBook" speak to its all-family appeal. The concept for the uBook came from a babysitting adventure Moose Media founder Campbell had with his two-year old godson. Campbell?s father, a retired painting and art history professor, created the Moose Media and uBook logos and helped organize the visual flow of the uBook. This novel interactive tool teaches the basics of reading while tapping the imagination and enabling kids ages 2-6 to create a uBook that is uniquely their own. An ideal birthday, back-to-school or holiday gift.
Über den Autor: When Bruce was a boy, he used a jigsaw to cut plywood to build a wooden school bus and people to ride the bus. He painted the bus yellow and painted the people to represent his friends and bus driver. His dad took Polaroid pictures of all his friends and even his bus driver so that Bruce could cut out their faces from the photos and paste them on to the figures. In Bruce's own words, "It was my school bus," a completely unique and exact representation of a part of his life. And no one else had this toy. In Mrs. Grossman's 5th grade class at Lincoln Elementary in Gahanna, Ohio, Bruce wrote a story, illustrated it, and then bound it as a hardcover book with a needle and thread. Again, this was important to Bruce because, "It was a real book that I had written, with my characters, my plot, and my drawings." These were the earliest hints to Bruce that he finds learning with the aid of pictures more rewarding than learning using text alone. Visual cues help him learn and link words with their meanings. Combine his desire to use colors and images as teaching tools with the energy he feels in creating something substantial like a story, a model, or a book, and you find yourself at the beginning of the path that led to Moose Media and the uBook. Bruce M. Campbell was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1969. He was educated at the University of Minnesota where he received a Bachelor of Arts in history. Bruce has worked in various fields, from construction to information technology, but in the year 2000, decided to pursue his dream of starting his own business. This dream has become Moose Media, Inc and the uBook. More information is available on the web. He currently lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
