Issued May 22nd, 1909, New York, by Harper & Brothers. Retains the supplemental color cover (edge tears at bottom). Note- the double page centerfold is torn with loss (visible in our pics), so this image is defective. Issue contents still great otherwise. An actual piece of American history issued in the early years of the 20th century. Filled with commentary and images, issued contemporary to the events. Original early 20th century weekly newspaper. An actual, complete newspaper published at the date listed, not a modern re-issue. During this period, this journal was a major, influential national publication. Paper uniformly age toned as typical, some pages loose. Issue was once bound up in a volume and is now free-standing and complete unto itself as originally issued. Nice looking, clean, some old tape repairs seen, well preserved example, pages loosened, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive. Text on reverse of each page as always, images and maps from Harper's like this are often offered separately for display. Newspaper measures c. 16" H x 11" W. Periodical will be shipped gently rolled in a sturdy 3" wide tube to ensure it arrives safely to you! Multiple issues purchased at the same time will be shipped flat.[B10018]. There is a color cover on this issue. The front page of this issue has a photo of "Race-Track Betting According to Law."This issue has photos and an article on "Falling a Mile through Space" by Edward Wesley Potter. There are photos of "The American Polo Team Which Will Play in England for the International Cup." There is also a photo of "A Rehearsal--Elsie St. Leon, in the Circus at Luna Park, Coney Island" and a double page illustration by Kemble called "'I Wonder Who's Cutting the Biggest Figure Just Now, Theodore or Your Uncle Bill!" This issue also includes photos of "Two Notable Entertainments of a Day" and much more. Other advertisements of the day are included as well, helping to portray life at the turn of the century.
