First published in 1889, revised in 1917; this is a later printing, circa 1932. Rebound in half blue-green polished calf or crushed morocco over ribbed cloth boards, decorated paper endsheets, gilt top edge. The binding is unsigned, but it is quality work, likely to be by a Chicago binder in the early 1930s. Unique thus. Light wear, spine & upper rear board faded, gift note inside cover from Benjamin Franklin Lyons, Chicago utility executive, to his son of the same name, then four years of age.
