Near fine condition olive green cloth boards with gold spine lettering. The spine lettering is faded and a 3/4 inch spot at the upper front board (see photographs). The inner front and rear blank endpapers are lightly to moderately foxed from age. The volume is otherwise in fine condition. All pages are in fine unmarked condition and the spine/binding is exceedingly tight and square (see photographs. The copyright date on the copyright page is 1946 with no further dates, with "Printed in the United States of AMerica by H. Wolff, New York". Early American edition, published in the same year as the first American edition, this copy without the statement 'first American edition' to the copyright page. However, because this copy does not state any subsequent printings to the copyright page, it's likely that this is the second printing. "Animal Farm is the most famous by far of all twentieth-century political allegories. Its account of a group of barnyard animals who revolt against their vicious human master, only to submit to a tyranny erected by their own kind, can fairly be said to have become a universal drama.
