From; Theatrum Orbis Terrarum sive Atlas Novus / Volume II, published by Willem and Joan Blaeu from 1635-1655. We do not know the exact date of this map.Made by an anonymous engraver after 'Willem and Joan Blaeu '. Joan Blaeu (1598 of 1599) was a dutch printer and publisher, cartographer. He published worldfamous atlasses. Hij was the son of Willem Blaeu. His most famous work is the Atlas Maior. Father Willem Blaeu (1571-1638) studied by the Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe. Willem worked from 1600 in Amsterdam as producer of globes, printer and publisher of maps and publisher of literature of famous writers of that time.Condition: , given age. very good handcolouring, brownish in the margin, little foxing on the right below and two brown spot left, in 3 corners remains of previous soiling, some creases in corner, middle fold as remain of the atlas General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
