Register mentions 3 plates which are present. Account appears to have contained map(s) which are not present. Plate Fff 1 shows a Turkish conquest of Aden, Yemen with torture of prisoners in 1526. Plate Fff 2 shows the arrival of Pero Mascarenhas who was chalenging Don Lopo de Sampaio as Governor of Portuguese India. He is trying to get on shore near Goa in 1529. Plate Fff 3 shows a scene in Ternate (Island part of the Molukas) where the Portuguese under Don Jorge tortures a commander of the local king and has dogs attack him. This section is part of this book and titled: 'Staat-zugtige scheepts-togten en krygs-bedryven ter handhaving van der Portugyzen opperbestuur in Oost-Indien door Don Lopo Vaz de Sampayo, gedaan in 't Jaar 1526.' (Transl.: Land seeking sea-voyages and war-acts for maintaining the upper-rule of the Portuguese in the East-Indies by Don Lopo Vaz de Sampaio, in the year 1626.) This part contains descriptions of Zunda and Java as well. Lopo Vaz de Sampaio was the 6th Governor of Portuguese India from 1526 to 1529. He was also the captain of Vasco da Gama, a famous Portuguese explorer. During 1528à ¿½29, Lopo Vaz de Sampaio seized the fort of Mahim from the Gujarat Sultanate, when the King was at war with Nizam-ul-mulk, the emperor of Chaul, a town south of Bombay.Artists and Engravers: Publisher: Pieter van der Aa (Leiden 1659 - 1733) was a Dutch publisher best known for preparing maps and atlases.
