Engraving on hand laid paper. on paper. Size in cm: The overall size is ca. 103.6 x 68.6 cm. The image size is ca. 90.2 x 56.2 cm. Size in inch: The overall size is ca. 40.8 x 27 inch. The image size is ca. 35.5 x 22.1 inch.Antique map, titled: 'No. 47: Carte Reduite de l'Entree de la Mer d'Irlande et du Canal de Bristol.' - A chart of the Celtic Sea, with St. George's Channel and the Bristol Channel. The map shows depth sounding and places along the coast, as well as the large sand bank 'Nymph's Bank'. Published by the Depot General de la Marine in 1797.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Francois D'Houdan' after an anonymous artist. Francois D'Houdan (1748-1828) was a French geographical engraver. The lettering was engraved by Besancon. We have not been able to further identify this engraver.Condition: Good, given age. Original middle fold, as issued. Some small imperfections in the margin edges (well outside image area). Some very faint soiling (or offsetting) in the image area). A small stain in the lower edge of the image.
