Engraving, hand coloured on hand laid paper. on paper. Size in cm: The overall size is ca. 64.7 x 55.1 cm. The image size is ca. 51.1 x 41 cm. Size in inch: The overall size is ca. 25.5 x 21.7 inch. The image size is ca. 20.1 x 16.1 inch.Antique map, titled: ''Magni Mogolis Imperium.'' - A map of the Mongol empire, spanning from North India, Bhutan, Nepal, Tibet and Bangladesh. Places included are Kabul (NW), Ahmedabad (SW), Chittagong (SE) and Gor (NE). A region named ''Regni d''Arracan'' (currently Myanmar) is colored differently. With decorative cartouche and decration lower left near scale bars. Inland the rivers Ganges and Indus are displayed, with Tartary and the Himalayas. This includes Katmandu, Kabul and other historical cities. Published by Covens & Mortier, ca. 1700Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after 'Frederick de Wit'. Frederik/Frederick de Wit (Amsterdam 1630-1706), was a famous engraver and publisher in Amsterdam. He acquired many of the printing plates of Blaeu and Janssonius when it came to auction. His map were very popular because of the quality of the engravings and the beautiful colouring. After his death his work was re-issued by Pieter Mortier and Covens & Mortier.Condition: Good, given age. Margins a little browned, ghosting from previous matting around the image. Original middle fold, as issued. With a twin wormhole left and right of the middle fold in the lower margin. A small stain in the top margin. Manuscript number (84) in top left and right corners. Small damages in the margins (not affecting image). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
