Aphrodite

Over 120,000 downloads! The novels in the Regency Goddesses series are regularly in the top 20 for Historical Romance and can be enjoyed in any order.

A sparkling Christmas Regency romp from bestselling humorous historical romance author DG Rampton.

• a strong-willed lady who has no wish to hunt for a husband
• a blunt, caustic gentleman with an inconvenient betrothal
• a delightfully devious grandmother (and retired courtesan) who hasn't lost her touch
• a masterclass in matchmaking featuring meddling, mayhem, and the sort of mystic chemistry that defies logic

In this chart-topping instalment of the Regency Goddesses series, two stubborn hearts learn that resistance is futile when fate and one determined grandmother conspire together.

“I fail to see why you expect me to put up with your acerbic charm? Others of your acquaintance might be inclined to do so, but I, strange creature that I am, will not!”

When the beautiful Miss April Hartwood arrives in London all she wants is some fun and frivolity after a life spent in rural obscurity in Cornwall. Unfortunately for her, her grandmother has other ideas – a husband!

Lively and independent, April does not appreciate being compelled to enter the marriage mart. Yet before long, she finds herself courting the affections of the Duke of Claredon, while struggling with a wholly inappropriate attraction to the maddeningly fascinating Mr Royce.

He’s insufferable, he’s unavailable, and he’s exactly the person she shouldn't want.

In the lead-up to Christmas 1820, a marvellously devious plan is set in motion to bring together two people destined for one another, regardless of the obstacles to be overcome and the inconvenient tendency on the part of the protagonists to resist their attraction.

Author's Comments:

• The novels in the Regency Goddesses series are standalone, although one minor character makes an appearance in all three - have you discovered them?

• As I like to stay in period as much as possible, all spelling follows British English conventions.

• The idea for Aphrodite came to me while reading Courtesans by Katie Hickman. The women who reached the heights of becoming courtesans during the Regency period led privileged lives and often had it better than the wives! They owned their own assets, managed their lives without male interference, and walked away from their protectors whenever they wished, usually greatly enriched. I wanted to explore a strong female character, Mrs Delamer, who had lived that life and unabashedly made the most of her opportunities.
