A chronologically arranged annotated list of some 500 items is followed by a list of 1580 names of reported authors. "Yet "Arithmetical Books" remains of use to the bibliographer and historian, as De Morgan's successor in the bibliography of arithmetics, David Eugene Smith, was not slow to recognize. It is a minor classic in its own right.
