Hardcover, Collector's Edition, bound in full leather with elaborate gilt detailing, pages gilt on the three edges, orange silk moire endpapers, attached ribbon bookmark. Titles in gilt on the spine with four raised bands. In the 1920s Pidgeon (a photographer) built his sailboat (the Islander, a 34 ft yawl) and with no substantial experience sailed around the world, becoming the second person to do so alone (23 years after Slocum did it) and first to do it through the Panama Canal and the Cape of Good Hope. Illustrated with frontispiece and many other black and white photographic illustrations. 233 pages. Excellent, almost like new condition. With Easton's Collectors Notes relating to the book inserted.
