Includes 100 color plates, a bibliography, a couple short pieces by the artist and an article by David A. Ross. The book has an old price label on the first free endpage, a tiny cluster of tan spots on the outer page edges. There is also a little discoloration to top and bottom edges of the covers and spine from exposure to sunlight. Otherwise, the book is clean and undamaged. The dust jacket is not price-clipped and is clean except for slight rubbing to the glossy surfaces. There is a 1" x 1/8" chip in the top edge of the back panel and a 2/3" tear from the top edge of the spine, as well as light rub wear at and adjacent to the top edge of the spine. From Wikipedia: Em started working with digital media before there were personal computers. He created his first digital picture in 1975 at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center in Palo Alto, using SuperPaint "the first complete digital paint system." In 1976, he designed articulated 3D digital insects at that could walk, jump, and fly, some of the first 3D characters created by a fine artist. Em became the first artist to produce navigable virtual worlds in 1977 at NASA's (JPL), where he was Artist in Residence from 1976 to 1988.[ He also created digital art at the Cal Tech (1985-1988), and Apple Computer (1991).
